Types of Hydrant Pumps
Fire extinguishing systems using hydrant pumps are very effective and efficient in dealing with various types of fires. As in fires that occur in buildings, shopping complexes and other public facilities. Because the outage process using a fire hydrant pump can be done as soon as possible. The function of the Hydrant Pump is to move water in a reservoir to the discharge end or transmitter / nozzle. Hydrant pumps are divided into three types, namely:
*) Jockey Pump
Jockey pump is a pump whose function is to maintain stastic pressure in the hydrant network. Jockey pumps are also used to monitor for leaks. So when a small outflow or leak occurs, the jockey pump will work automatically to restore the water to the original pressure planned. Jockey pumps are designed automatically to work when one of the discharge valves is opened or if a leak occurs. And it will stop when the valve is closed.
*) Electric Pumps
In a fire hydrant system an electric pump is the main pump which functions as the main driver of water in the hydrant system. The main pump will work after the maximum capacity of the jockey pump has been exceeded. The electric pump is designed to live / start automatically and will stop / stop manually via the stop / reset button on the hydrant system control panel.
*) Disel Pump
Is a diesel-powered water pump. The main function is as a backup pump if the electric pump has a problem. Like during a power outage at a fire location, so the main pump cannot be used. In addition, the backup pump will work automatically if the main pump works beyond the maximum capacity or the main pump is damaged.
